Casey’s Diner
Start-up support in Torbay -
After 15 years of running his own business maintaining catering equipment in the restaurants and hotels of Torbay, Richard Parsons learnt the hospitality trade and developed ideas for opening his own restaurant. In the Summer of 2009, after almost a year of planning and hard work, the vision he shared with wife Sue of creating an authentic fifties diner became a reality. They picked a prime location on a main road near to Paignton Zoo and transformed the disused garage into an exciting venture, unlike anything else in the area.
Casey's Diner has been the talk of Torbay for all the right reasons since its opening, it's not just the food but the attention to detail customers find impressive; including the artwork, juke box, Uncle Sam's statue and children's Cadillac meal boxes. It's an attraction, not just a restaurant, visited by a range of people of all ages. However, none of this would have been possible without Armada's support. Julian Saunders was delighted to be part of such a project which involved funding the complete fit-out including the 100ft neon sign.
"Julian helped us through the planning stages and tailored a funding package which met with our timescales and was flexible when inevitable problems arose. It's great that Julian is always around to offer advice and encouragement, finding a locally based firm which has an interest in the area and in us is a refreshing change. Our family life is firmly linked to the future of Casey's Diner so we find it reassuring that we have the support of a company like Armada behind us."
