Tom’s GREAT British Menu
Marlow, Buckinghamshire -
After battling it out against 23 of Britain's top chefs over 8 weeks, Armada client Tom Kerridge won the finals of BBC's Great British Menu, an outstanding achievement after facing such fierce competition. The prize was to cook for HRH The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and one hundred of Britain's leading food producers at a prestigious banquet, celebrating the very best of Britain's local and seasonal produce.
Representing the South East, Tom had to select the finest ingredients from the farms, gardens and neighbouring areas surrounding the local National Trust property Waddesdon Manor in Aylesbury to create a superb starter, fish course, main course and dessert fit for a Prince. It was Tom's main course of slow-cooked duck with duck fat chips and gravy that won him a place cooking the centre-piece of the banquet, along with three other chefs, each having the honour of cooking one of the other courses.
Tom and Beth Kerridge's restaurant, The Hand & Flowers in Marlow, Buckinghamshire was opened in 2005. In less than a year they were awarded one Michelin star, three AA Rosettes, one Egon Ronay star and won 'Buckinghamshire Newcomer of the Year' in The Good Food Guide.
